Camoflaged Grasshopper

This grasshopper's camoflaged body blended in extremely well with his surroundings of small gravel and sand.  Perhaps consequently, he seemed very confident. Indeed, his head tilt suggests that a sarcastic retort is coming.  Nevertheless, he zipped off a few seconds after this image was made.

Grasshopper on a Cactus

This grasshopper seemed unusually poorly camoflaged on a large cactus.  Nevertheless, he was without fear, and sat patiently as I photographed him.

Desert Hare

This spare muscular hare reminded me of Albrecht Durer's painting "The Young Hare".  He appeared right at dawn and dusk, outside our bungalow at Cabo Pulmo.

The Canadian divers explore the wreck of the Venceremos, off Cabo Pulmo, Baja California.

School of Bigeye Trevally

The schools of silvery, luminous fish head toward the camera.  The school is dense.  This was at the divesite "El Morro," off Cabo Pulmo, Baja California. The area is a marine reserve, and large schools of fish are common.  According to the old-timers, all of the Gulf of California used to look like this marine reserve.

Bigeye Trevally Jacks

A few bold Bigeye Trevally jacks and a damselfish check me out as their school sweeps past, at El Morro off Cabo Pulmo.

Canadian Divers Confer

Divers confer amidst a school of bigeye trevally jacks at El Morro, off Cabo Pulmo, Baja. These divers were from Canada and I will always think of them as the Canadian divers.
