Snowy Egret in Breeding Plumage

Snowy egrets have large yellow feet that make them look as if they are wearing rubber overshoes.  They use them to stir up tasty morsels from the bottom as they wade through shallow water.  This egret is wearing breeding plumage of fine white features trailing from wings, tail,and neck. It's easy to see why egret feathers were once all the rage in European fashion, and worth their weight in gold.
